About

Transition Towns – Sunshine Coast meets every Saturday morning at 10 am at Homegrown Cafe Tin Shed in Palmwoods.

Transition Towns is a grassroots network of like-minded people supporting the regional transition from reliance on external systems to local resilience, especially in the face of our rapidly changing climate. We’re talking about improving our independence, reducing our need for, and growing our ability to provide, food, fuel and security – welcome to Transition Sunshine Coast. Founded on the principles of Permaculture, Transition is a movement that has been growing since 2005. Our group, Transition Sunshine Coast, has continuously been meeting since 2008 and at the current location since 2015. In practice, Transition groups are reclaiming the economy, sparking entrepreneurship, reimagining work, reskilling themselves and weaving webs of connection and support. It’s an approach that has spread now to over 50 countries, in thousands of groups: in towns, villages, cities, universities, schools. Transition here and elsewhere is finding its way, inventing itself as it goes along. In its very nature it needs to respond to change quickly and be open to criticisms and suggested new directions. Above all, our primary focus is not on being against things, but on developing and promoting positive possibilities. We believe in using creative ways to engage and involve people, encouraging them to imagine the future they want to inhabit.

To find out more, come along next Saturday morning! For more information on the Transition network nationally and globally, see https://transitionnetwork.org.
