IGCC is a collaboration of Australian and New Zealand investors focusing on the impact that climate change has on the financial value of investments. IGCC represents investors with total funds under management of over $2 trillion in Australia and New Zealand and $20 trillion around the world. IGCC members cover over 7.5 million people in Australia and New Zealand. IGCC aims to encourage government policies and investment practices that address the risks and opportunities of climate change, for the ultimate benefit of superannuants and unit holders.
We aim to:
Raise awareness of the potential impacts, both positive and negative, resulting from climate change to the investment industry, corporate, government and community sectors;
Encourage best practice approaches to facilitate the inclusion of the impacts of climate change in investment analysis by the investment industry; and
Provide information to assist the investment industry to understand and incorporate climate change into the investment decision.
The Asia Investor Group on Climate Change is also a subsidiary of the IGCC, with staff both in Australia and in the region. In 2016, IGCC helped to relaunch the Asia Investor Group on Climate Change (AIGCC). AIGCC currently operates under the governance and as part of the structure of IGCC, while maintaining an independent member network. We also collaborate with similar investor organisations on climate change in Europe (the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change), North America (Ceres) and Asia (Asia Investor Group on Climate Change) through the Global Investor Coalition on Climate Change.
Our Vision: A climate-resilient net zero emissions economy by 2050.
Our Mission: We will catalyse investor action on climate change to avoid dangerous global warming, responsibly manage long term risks and drive sustainable returns for investors and the beneficiaries they represent.
