Hunter Community Environment Centre

Hunter Community Environment Centre is a resource hub for environmentally conscious citizens since 2004

About

The Hunter Community Environment Centre was established in 2004 to encourage and facilitate environmental and social justice advocacy and education in the Hunter region, NSW, Australia. Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Hunter Valley boasts tremendous natural beauty — our beaches, parks and wetlands of international significance are a draw-card for tourists and residents alike, home to some of Australia’s finest vineyards, farming land and the World Heritage listed Barrington Tops. The Hunter Community Environment Centre recognises the value of our unique landscape and bio-region, and we are committed to working with our community to protect its diversity and its special places. We run campaigns on biodiversity, climate change, community health, air and water quality and social justice. In the heart of Newcastle, we maintain a resource-hub for groups and individuals working towards environmental and social justice. We provide the space, know-how and training for groups to network and collaborate on campaigns that protect and enhance the quality of life in our region.

Our mission is:
