Welcome to Gasfield Free Southwest Alliance WA!The name of this group has recently been changed to include Alliance in the title, in recognition that there are many groups forming throughout the South West working together to keep their communities gasfield free. If you would like to get in touch with one of the various Gasfield Free towns in the South West, please email [email protected] – we will pass on your email for you.We aim to be a platform for positive action, from which community action groups can form and conduct gas field free surveys to declare towns “gasfield free”. There are also many other actions we can do as individuals, such as emailing all local and state members of government, distributing information flyers and holding movie nights (info & movie packs available, please ask- we can email or post).
There are 3 separate proposals of concern:1. Mandurah to Myalup: extending approximately 50kms inland- covering communities such as Pinjarra, Waroona, Harvey, Myalup & Binningup.2. Bunbury to North Busselton: extending approximately 50kms inland, covering communities such as Gelorup, Stratham, Capel, Boyanup & Donnybrook.3. Busselton South: extending down toward Margaret River, through rural towns such as Treeton & Rosa Brook.
We hope this group can assist residents to stay informed and united on the issue of gas exploration and production in our region. Let’s aim for a Gasfield Free SouthWest!Code of conduct / etiquette for Gasfield Free Southwest Alliance (WA) Group
– Be respectful of others. Eg: No personal insults, bullying or slanderous statements.
– No swearing as we have people of all ages in our membership.- Resist writing in capital letters, it is like shouting at people. The occasional capitalised word for impact is ok, but not people’s names or complete sentences.
– Do not propose doing illegal activities.
– Factual information that relates to gas mining is valued. Members are encouraged to post relevant articles, papers and links which may inform others.
– We are a politically neutral group. We encourage everyone to contact their MPs to find out what their position is regarding onshore gas in the Southwest. Please refrain from advertising political parties on this group, and from debating politics not directly relating to onshore gas in the Southwest.
– Please note duplicate posts are deleted.Posts or comments that do not abide by this basic Code of Conduct may be deleted without warning due to time constraints of volunteer admins. Members that cannot abide by this basic Code of Conduct will be removed or blocked.This Code of Conduct is required as we do not want discredit the hard work we have done in informing Southwest residents. Let’s keep this a positive Community Action Group for discussion about issues related to gas exploration in our region. 🙂
