RMIT’s investment portfolio is currently supporting the extraction and burning of fossil fuels, using our endowment as capital. Fossil Free RMIT as a student run campaign will convince the university administration to divest from the fossil fuel industries of coal, oil and gas. As a prominent academic institution, RMIT’s moral responsibility to divest from fossil fuels, sends an important message. In that transitioning to sustainable practises is paramount to mitigating the catastrophic impacts of climate change.
