Environmental Advocacy in Central Queensland Inc is a ‘grassroots’ group of people who are concerned about our environment, the impacts of climate change and ensuring a just transition to a new energy environment.
EnvA’s key areas of interest and activity include:
– Advocating for no new, or expanding coal and gas projects in Central Queensland,
– Assisting our community in the transition to renewable energy through listening, information sharing and education,
– Educating the community about the impacts of climate change on our lifestyle, our wildlife and our ecosystems,
– Advocating for the protection of wildlife habitats of state and national significance where it is threatened by habitat loss and/or climate change,
– Engaging Traditional Owners and providing support for their voice on their views on developments and protection of their land.
We consider that it is important to have a group with a focus on coal and climate in this region if we are to effectively reduce emissions, slow the accelerating climate change and protect our reef, wetlands, coastline and wildlife.
