Coonabarabran, ‘the Astronomy Capital of Australia’, also known as the gateway to the Warrumbungles, is home to around 3,000 people with 11,000 living in the region. It’s one of the best places in NSW to experience nature up close, where you can enjoy bushwalking amongst the spectacular scenery, surrounded by an abundance of wildlife and ancient volcanic geological features, and be awestruck by the stunning clear skies. The tradional owners are the Gamilaraay people, with a history dating back 21,000 years. The main industries that supports Coonabarabran are agriculture and tourism.
This group has been formed to find like-minded people against coal seam gas extraction, and to get information out to those interested.
