Lawyers for Climate Justice Australia is a national network of lawyers, barristers, legal academics and law students who are exploring ways the legal system can be harnessed to address the climate crisis. We support collective action at the local level to achieve our purpose and objectives. The more voices we have, the stronger our call for climate justice.
We pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, for whom climate change is but another chapter in a long history of destruction and dispossession. We acknowledge that the laws and customs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nations cared for the Australian continent and islands for more than 60,000 years. Our laws must continue to protect this land and its inhabitants, in the future. We are committed to understanding and addressing past injustices that have contributed to the climate crisis and ensuring that First Nations people and vulnerable communities lead the movement for change. Lawyers for Climate Justice Australia is not a legal service or law firm. We do not provide legal advice.
