Australians are regularly blocked from exercising this basic democratic right because of insurmountable financial barriers to groundbreaking litigation, making it almost impossible to hold powerful governments and corporate leaders accountable. HOW WE MAKE IT HAPPEN
We use a movement lawyering approach, an innovative model of collaborative justice which grew out of the US civil rights movement to build the power of the people, not the power of the law. We work alongside affected communities, taking direction from them and centring their voices to build integrated litigation and campaign strategies that tackle injustice. We collaborate with legal experts and advocacy partners on strategic public interest cases, remaining accountable to the people and communities we work with. We have a proven track record of prioritising cases with the potential to break gridlocks and create systemic change with significant sustainable impact for communities.
WE COLLABORATE: We unite grassroots community movements, bold lawyers, brave champions and civil society organisations who want to challenge unfairness in the courts.
WE PINPOINT: We work with affected people and communities to pinpoint, support and design cases that can protect or advance groundbreaking rights and freedoms.
WE FUND: Our community chips in to fund expensive litigation costs and remove barriers to the power of the court.
