Gasfield Free Glenelg

Gasfield Free Glenelg is a group that is working to stop Onshore Unconventional Gas/Oil extraction from invading our area, the Glenelg Shire and the State of Victoria.

About

The aim of the Gasfield Free Glenelg movement is to protect the biodiversity, water resources, agricultural lands and sustainable industries of the Glenelg Shire, and the livelihoods and wellbeing of the people who live here, from the impacts of all forms of unconventional gas mining. Our objective is to have the Glenelg Shire and surounding regions declared an unconventional gas free zone, and for all current licenses and leases that allow such activities to be revoked. Please Join us to Help stop Onshore Unconventional Gas/Oil extraction from invading our area, the Glenelg Shire and the State of Victoria.

The types of Unconventional gas and oil extraction include Shale gas, Tight gas, and Coal seam gas In the Gippsland, QLD NSW regions all of which can require High Volume Horizontal Hydraulic Fracturing. Or FRACKING, as it’s better know. Underground coal gasification also. There are already exploration wells for unconventional gas over the border in South Australia near in Penola. PEP’s which are Petroleum Exploration Permits, already cover our area. PEP150 and PEP 151 cover near all of the Cobboboonee State Park and the most of the Lower Glenelg National Park. Please have a look on this Gov web site, it’s called “Mining licences near me”. We can stop this in our community. But we all need to help each other to achieve a “Gasfield Free Glenelg”.
