Extinction Rebellion QUT

We are a local group of Extinction Rebellion (XR), which is a decentralised, politically non-partisan movement that uses non-violent direct action and civil disobedience to persuade governments to act justly on the climate and ecological emergency.

About

Extinction Rebellion chapter at QUT. See you at 10am tomorrow at Musgrave Park in West End, rebels, for the beginning of Rebellion Week! Make sure to look for our QUT banner and also on Wednesday, we’ll be joining our fellow rebels at Extinction Rebellion UQ for a die-in in the middle of campus! Newcomers especially welcome

Brilliant swarm on campus today, thanks to all the new rebels who came! We marched and chanted all throughout the campus; handed out over 500 leaflets to bystanders; were applauded by staff members (including one who told us she’s already joined her local XR group!); did a banner drop; paid a visit to the Institute for Future Environments, which houses a lab partly funded by Adani (!); and finally, tried to visit the Vice Chancellor to ask her why such climate criminals are allowed on campus, but sadly, she wouldn’t see us. This was only the beginning, can’t wait to make a splash on campus again during Rebellion Week (week 11), so stay tuned or even better come get active with us!

Join the rebellion! We are currently out the front of Gardens Point, next to parliament, getting the word out about next week’s swarm action. Come say hi and help out if you’re around campus! Swarm event is here: https://www.facebook.com/events/372758260315637/?ti=as
