Extinction Rebellion End Fast Fashion

We are a local group of Extinction Rebellion (XR), which is a decentralised, politically non-partisan movement that uses non-violent direct action and civil disobedience to persuade governments to act justly on the climate and ecological emergency.

Taking action against fast fashion to expose its massive contribution to the climate crisis. Fast fashion is one of biggest emitters, polluters and exploiters of labour. Catch up on sme reading about fashion industry.

#extinction rebellion

Did you know that fast fashion is responsible for a whopping 10% of carbon emissions? And that this is higher than aviation and shipping combined?
Other fast fashion facts:
*one third of fast fashion garments end up in landfill within the year of being purchased;
*more than one third of microplastics in the ocean come from fashion textiles;
*and the great majority of women workers who sew fast fashion clothing do not earn the minimum wage.
These are four good reasons to #endfastfashion and to choose instead to #reducereuserepairrebel as a way to address the #ClimateEmergency
Of course, it’s not just an individual choice; we need a systems approach and our governments must #ActNow to regulate the fast fashion industry.
Join us today to demand urgent action on the #climatecrisis
