About

Coalition for a Safe Climate – Aims and objectives.

The Coalition for a Safe Climate is a Perth-based climate action group. We formed in support of the campaign outcomes of the first Climate Action Summit held in Canberra, January 31-February 3, 2009:
1. To prevent the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS) from becoming law.
2. Build community-wide action to demand green jobs, a just transition and 100% renewable energy by 2020.
3. To build community support for a goal of stabilisation at 300ppm CO2 and strong international agreement in line with what science and global justice demands. To communicate this position to Copenhagen Conference of Parties, and advocate for the Australian government to adopt that position.

We hold public activities (fora, public meetings, rallies, pickets, street theatre, film screenings and the like) to educate the community (including ourselves) about climate change and what needs to be done, and to mobilise people and build the grassroots movement for a safe climate.
