About

CORENA is a non-profit volunteer-run organisation. Our powerful revolving fund enables all Australians to help tackle the climate emergency by donating to projects that reduce carbon emissions immediately.

How it works
Community organisations apply for zero-interest loans to pay for projects such as installing solar panels, improving energy efficiency, switching away from fossil gas use, or purchasing electric vehicles. The resultant savings on energy/fuel bills cover the loan repayments into our revolving fund. This means they can reduce their carbon footprint at no cost to themselves, and after their loan is fully repaid they reap the additional benefit of having lower operating costs. We then invite everyone to chip in to help fund the project. We use those new donations and recent loan repayments from earlier projects to give a loan to cover the project costs.

Current projects
We currently have a number of potential new projects under discussion, including solar projects, our first getting of gas project, and a biogas project. Under our ‘first in first used’ policy, all donations and loan repayments received up to 5 May 2021, including loan repayments previously allocated to the first getting off gas project, have now been given in loans to our funded projects. We’re excited about our first project for replacing fossil gas use with efficient electric alternatives. We’re still confirming the details, but you can select either that or the more general ‘Coming soon’ option when you chip in to reduce carbon emissions via our climate projects.
