Yes 2 Renewables is Friends of the Earth Melbourne’s campaign for 100 per cent renewable energy. Yes 2 Renewables empowers communities to win local campaigns that accelerate the transition to 100 per cent renewable energy. The campaign works with communities, workers, unions, businesses, and other stakeholders to build a strong and diverse pro- renewable energy constituency that can’t be ignored. In 2013, Yes 2 Renewables implemented successful defensive campaigns, going head-to-head with anti-wind farm campaigners on King Island, central Victoria (Cherry Tree Range), and in Canberra.
In 2014, our RET Road Trip campaign undermined the credibility of the Dick Warburton review of the Renewable Energy Target. Our state election campaign secured a commitment from the Daniel Andrews government to repeal the worst aspects of the Coalition’s anti-wind farm laws. So far in 2015, we have run parallel campaigns: acting as a watchdog on Senator Madigan’s wind energy inquiry, and campaigning for strong and effective renewable energy policies in Victoria–including a state Renewable Energy Target.

Leigh Ewbank, Yes 2 Renewables coordinator: Leigh Ewbank is current Yes 2 Renewables coordinator. He cut his teeth going head to head with the anti-wind farm lobby on King Island, central Victoria and elsewhere. Yes 2 Renewables was the driving force behind the campaign to restore fair wind farm laws in Victoria, and is now spearheading the case for a state Renewable Energy Target. Leigh has a Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) from RMIT University, Melbourne. Leigh has been engaged in climate and energy debates for years, with his commentary on climate and energy politics published at The Age, ABC’s The Drum, and Crikey, among others. Cam Walker, Friends of the Earth campaigns coordinator: Cam Walker is Friends of the Earth Australia’s campaigns coordinator. Cam has been active on environment and climate justice issues for more than 25 years. He has lectured Environmental Politics and Change Theory at RMIT University, and is currently working with Victorian communities to protect farmland from unconventional gas and fracking, as well as new coal developments.
