Australians love their solar, but despite overwhelming community support, solar is at risk. By taking the Stand Up For Solar pledge you're showing our representatives that a strong solar future is what Australians everywhere want to see.
Show our representatives that a strong solar future is what Australians everywhere want to see with the plan for a sun-powered future, including:
- A national goal of at least 50% renewable energy by 2030, afair go for solar owners, including a fair feed-in tariff, no discriminatory fees and a specialist solar ombudsman, and
- A national program to help low-income households and renters with soaring power bills to go solar.
I’M STANDING UP FOR SOLAR. I pledge to support the plan for a sun-powered future, including:
– A national goal of at least 50% renewable energy by 2030, A fair go for solar owners, including a fair feed-in tariff, no discriminatory fees and a specialist solar ombudsman, and
– A national program to help low-income households and renters with soaring power bills to go solar.
OUR PLAN
Australians love their solar, but despite overwhelming community support, solar is at risk. By taking the Stand Up For Solar pledge you’re showing our representatives that a strong solar future is what Australians everywhere want to see.
Here’s our plan:
– AT LEAST 50% RENEWABLE BY 2030. Australians want to see more solar and renewables, not less. A national goal of at least 50% renewable energy by 2030 will help millions of families go solar, create tens of thousands of jobs and ensure billions in investment for our sunny country.
– A FAIR GO FOR SOLAR OWNERS. Going solar should be easy but big power companies simply aren’t playing fair. We want to see an end to discriminatory fees for solar owners, a fair feed in tariff for power fed back into the grid, and a specialist solar ombudsman to protect consumers’ rights in every state and territory.
– HELP FOR HOUSEHOLDS WITH SOARING POWER BILLS. The only guaranteed way people can take control of their power bills is by installing solar. We want to see a strong national program to support low-income households and renters switch to solar and help with the rising cost of living.

Group Leading this Campaign:
Solar Citizens
Campaign Target Type: Government - Federal - Politicians, Government - Local Council - Councillors, Government - States_Territories - Politicians
Who this Campaign is Targeting: Our representatives
Main Issue of the Campaign: Clean Energy Transformation
Campaign Ran From: 2015 to 2023
Campaign Outcome: Campaign goal partially achieved
Outcome Evidence: Only the Queensland Government appears to have a goal of 50% renewable energy by 2030, although as stated on the Solar Citizens website 'Labor’s announcement this morning that the party plans to introduce a 50% renewable energy goal of 50% by 2030 as a cornerstone of the party’s Platform to be endorsed at this week’s ALP National Conference.' The Clean Energy Council lists the various subsidies available to cover the cost of solar and/or batteries, and notes that 'Feed-in tariffs differ from state to state and from retailer to retailer.' A specialist solar ombudsman does not appear to have been appointed. Given the overall balance of outcomes and primary targeting of goals at Labor, it appears this campaign has partially achieved its goals. (Ascertained June 2024)
