Fight for climate justice in your community

About

Throughout Regional Queensland, fighting for climate justice sits alongside experiencing the impacts of the climate crisis. Communities suffer from heatwaves, floods, droughts and bushfires. The climate crisis will only increase the frequency and severity of these events – so it’s more important than ever to work with our communities to fight for the solutions we need. We know community-building is crucial in Regional Queensland, and we’ve got a lot of work to do to understand and change our communities’ understanding of climate change and community power. So we can lay the groundwork to do this crucial work, we are having hundreds of meaningful conversations. These conversations will create a bold climate vision for each community we work in, then we can start to shift the narrative and politics around climate change.

What does this look like?
• Skilling up volunteers and leaders to start groups across Regional Queensland
• Working with the Cairns and Far North Environment Centre to knock on hundreds of doors and have one-on-one conversations
• Covering our communities in our message, with signs asking for Climate Action Now
• Community halls creating a community-driven vision of what a safe climate future looks like for their local area
