About

A group for Brimbank residents who want to see real action on climate change in our local area, and create a connected, resilient community. Our first project was a petition to Brimbank City Council to declare a climate emergency in the area of Brimbank which received over 400 signatures in just two weeks.

Across Australia and the world Councils are declaring a Climate Emergency and working together with residents to take the urgent action needed to reduce emissions and invest in solutions to move to a low carbon world. https://climateemergencydeclaration.org/. Our petition asked Council to:
# Declare a Climate Emergency
# Prepare a Brimbank Climate Emergency Plan for our area that will educate residents, reduce council’s emissions and plan for a resilient community
# Divest Council’s assets away from fiancial insitutions who invest and lend to fossil fuel projects
# Advocate for meaningful climate action at all level of government and work collaboratively with other councils and groups on this urgent issue
