About

The Australian Coastal Advocacy Alliance has been formed to call for a coordinated approach from all levels of Australian government to planning and maintaining our coast. The coast defines Australia. We like to spend as much time there as we can to swim, surf, sail, fish and relax with family and friends. It is our largest and most popular playground. It is also one of our most highly valued social, economic and environmental assets. We want to make sure it stays that way for the benefit of future generations. For many years, however, the Australian coast has been under threat from a complex range of pressures including rapid population growth, seasonal tourism peaks, coastal erosion, extreme weather events, sea level rise and other climate change risks. These and other challenges confront coastal communities in every state. They pose a significant risk to the future sustainability of the coastal environment.

Now, for the first time, Australia’s key coastal organisations have joined forces to campaign for an effective, whole of government effort to achieve a sustainable future for our coast and its communities. You can help us make it happen.
