ACCR is a research and shareholder advocacy organisation. Our focus is engaging with investors on how listed companies, industry associations, and other entities are managing climate, labour, human rights and governance issues.
Our work
Workers’ Rights
ACCR’s Workers’ Rights program promotes decent work and a living wage. More than legal compliance, decent work is the provision of fair income, job security, safety at work, and the freedom for workers to raise concerns and have them dealt with in a timely and effective manner. With wage theft scandals rocking hospitality, retail and agricultural sectors, and alarming numbers of fatalities in the mining sector, there is growing social and community pressure on companies – and by association investors – to ensure decent work.
Climate & Environment
ACCR’s climate program aims to accelerate Australia’s transition to a low carbon economy in line with the Paris Agreement. We engage with ASX-listed companies on their climate risk disclosure and the need to set emissions reduction targets consistent with the Paris Agreement, and we also push for reviews by ASX-listed companies of their industry associations’ climate policy advocacy.
Global Climate Insights
Global Climate Insights program provides company-focused climate analysis, research and insights to empower global institutional capital to transform corporates towards a safe climate.
Human Rights
ACCR’s human rights program is focused on business-related human rights risks and abuses, including those which relate to structural discrimination, Indigenous consent, and militarised surveillance and control of international borders. We hold corporations to their commitments under international human rights standards, such as the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). The Australasian Centre for Corporate Responsibility (ACCR) is a research and shareholder advocacy organisation. Our focus is engaging with investors on how listed companies, industry associations, and other entities are managing climate, labour, human rights and governance issues. We publish research and analysis on various environmental, social and governance practices to empower all shareholders. We have a small portfolio of shares that we hold for the purpose of engaging with companies, including through the filing of shareholder resolutions. We are philanthropically funded, not-for-profit, and independent. We are a member of both the UN Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI) and the Responsible Investment Association of Australasia (RIAA).
