AACSG&M MISSION STATEMENT
Armidale Action on Coal Seam Gas and Mining calls for transparency regarding all forms of exploration, mining and rehabilitation, including operations being undertaken by private companies, government agencies and individuals who possess exploration and/or production leases for any commodity in the New England/Northwest regions.
Armidale Action on Coal Seam Gas and Mining is calling for a complete ban on all forms of coal seam gas exploration and mining in the Pilliga.
Armidale Action on Coal Seam Gas and Mining is calling on the State to fulfil its legislative responsibilities in relation to the protection of the Pilliga, and in lieu of such inaction, is calling on the Federal Government to intervene to protect what is one of the most ecologically significant areas in New South Wales.
Armidale Action on Coal Seam Gas and Mining is opposed to all forms of coal seam gas exploration and mining in prime agricultural and horticultural land, ecologically sensitive areas, and the hydrologically sensitive areas of the Great Artesian Basin and the Murray Darling Basin catchment.
Armidale Action on Coal Seam Gas and Mining supports the O’Farrell Government’s moratorium on hydraulic fracturing in New South Wales and asks that Premier O’Farrell extend the moratorium until scientific consensus can ascertain the guaranteed safety of the practice.
Armidale Action on Coal Seam Gas and Mining is calling for an open and transparent community consultation process and is requesting opportunities for open and informed dialogue between community members and the coal seam gas industry.
