Resilient Blue Mountains

Resilient Blue Mountains are a network of community members, climate change activists, sustainability and environment groups in the Blue Mountains. They have a vision for a connected, vibrant, and resilient community caring for a healthy, sustainable Blue Mountains.

About

Across the Blue Mountains there is a groundswell of energy to respond proactively and creatively to our current crises. The 2019/2020 bushfires, the 2020 floods and the current global pandemic have created an immediate need for a sustainable recovery, while the unfolding climate crisis demands nothing short of transformation. Climate, environment and sustainability groups from across the Blue Mountains have joined together to begin a process of radical collaboration. With support from the Mayor, Mark Greenhill, and local federal and state representatives Susan Templeman and Trish Doyle, the first step was taken with the Forum for Recovery held 12 September 2020 at Lawson.

Our Vision
In becoming a world class resilient community, we will be drawing our community together like never before, creating local jobs in multiple sustainability areas as well as creating an eco-tourism market for those who are drawn to our locally grown produce, sustainable businesses, buildings and practices, our thriving community and the beauty that surrounds us in our World Heritage National Park. We will develop a common vision and work collaboratively and consistently towards that vision. Along the way, we will document and share our learnings and inspire as many other communities as possible to join us in this journey, both in Australia and around the world, who are equally inspired to build a resilient future for our children and for humanity.

Our Volunteers
Resilient Blue Mountains is built on the passion of our volunteers. All are welcome, we have alot of work to do!
