ALEC advocates for stronger regulatory frameworks governing pollution, reporting and groundwater extraction for mineral, gas and petroleum industries working in Central Australia, and runs a number of community campaigns including Alice Climate Action, Don't Frack the Territory and Clean Energy NT.
This is ALEC's broader campaign to oppose nuclear in NT: In partnership with local, Territory and National groups, ALEC continues to gauge nuclear happenings in Central Australia, and when needed disemminate information and support local community groups to run campaigns.
This campaign is uniting a powerful movement — farmers, Traditional Owners, doctors, environmental groups, religious leaders and many others — to stop the construction of the huge Maules Creek Coal Mine in the endangered Leard State Forest.
This campaign compells institutions like universities, councils and churches to divest from fossil fuels, and to weaken the fossil fuel industry’s social license to pollute the planet for free. This in turn helps free up political space for more ambitious emissions reduction legislation.
This group is an alliance of 17 committed local government, catchment management, state government, & alpine resort partner that aims to promote and support regional action on climate change.
