This campaign supports individuals and groups to meet with their local councils with the aim of getting them to declare a climate emergency. It provides tools and advice on building a climate emergency campaign.
Conservation laws designed specifically to protect nature are being unwound, both on the state and national level. Some governments and big business often try to give us an ultimatum—a healthy economy or a healthy natural world.
Unfortunately, this campaign is lost in 2014 when the breakwall was constructed by the local council, a large rocky structure was placed right on the point through the surf zone.
Surfrider Foundation National and Gold Coast-Tweed branch launch campaign against another proposal in early March aiming to prevent the transformation of the Broadwater at The Spit into a cruise ship terminal.
In 2010 Surfrider Foundation Capricorn Coast Branch representatives joined The Keppel and Fitzroy Delta Alliance (KAFDA) to lend their local resources and knowledge to assist in the prevention of 3 industrial developments, including 2 coal export terminals in the Fitzroy River Delta, Keppel Bay and North Curtis Island within the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area.
