This campaign was held in the lead up to COP26 in Glasgow, Citizen's Climate Lobby held 100 days of action calling for: A bipartisan and federally legislated target of Net Zero Emissions by 2050 (and preferably sooner), with a clearly documented process for achieving it presented by the Government at the Conference.
This campaign focused on "centrist" politicians. The voices of Citizens’ Climate Lobby members are needed at every level – at the national and local level – in our communications with politicians, in the media and with family, friends and broader community to build and support the centre of politics. By engaging our supporters and growing our chapters in the electorates of centrist MPs, CCL can assist them in supporting a more bipartisan approach to addressing climate change.
This campaign called for a climate smart recovery to the COVID-19 pandemic: Re-building the economy and re-building from the disruptions to everyday life presents great opportunities to ‘build back better’ with stimulus packages that promote a climate-smart recovery of a faster transition to renewable energy and zero net carbon emissions and a more liveable world.
The Climate Protection Bill, drafted by Climate Action Coogee members between February and May 2007 and now endorsed by climate action groups and individuals around Australia, sets out 19 points to start phasing out fossil fuels and turning to sustainable, carbon-neutral alternatives, and redesign cities and lifestyles so ecological sustainability is central.
In this subcampaign of 350.org's council divestment campaign, CASES are targetting three eastern suburbs councils – Randwick, Waverley and Woollahra – who have a joint Sustainability programme.
