TAKE2 is Victoria’s collective climate change pledge initiative to reach net zero emissions by 2050, and keep the global temperature rise to less than 2 degrees.
In 2014 Moreland City Council and MEFL developed Moreland’s Zero Carbon Evolution strategy to get our city on track for a zero carbon future.
This campaign called on firefighters to share their experiences on the frontlines to communicate to the federal government (Prime Minister Scott Morrison & Senator Bridget McKenzie) that more action needed to be taken on climate change.
"We must act now to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and limit further carbon increase. Reducing emissions will help stabilise global warming to allow our natural ecosystems to adapt... Our goal is to see Australia at the forefront of innovation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to reduce human impacts on our marine wildlife"
This campaign focussed on pressuring the Morrison government to increase Australia's climate targets in time for the critically important COP26 summit in Glasgow.
