This campaign focussed on pressuring the Morrison government to increase Australia's climate targets in time for the critically important COP26 summit in Glasgow.
The Victorian Climate Change Act 2017 required the Andrews government to prepare the state's first Climate Change Strategy by 31 October 2020. That's why Friends of the Earth's Act on Climate collective launched this project to create a People's Climate Strategy for Victoria. Through the campaign they aimed to deliver the People's Climate Strategy to every member of parliament.
This campaign calls on the Victorian government to create a volunteer remote area firefighting team (RAFT) that Victorians living in urban areas could join.
This campaign targets the Northern Territory government to take action of Buffel grass. "Introduced in the 1950's, buffel grass is rapidly spreading across Central Australia and beyond. Its dense growth chokes out native plants and causes damaging fires, making it the greatest invasive species threat to ecological and cultural values in the arid and semi-arid zone. "
ALEC advocates for stronger regulatory frameworks governing pollution, reporting and groundwater extraction for mineral, gas and petroleum industries working in Central Australia, and runs a number of community campaigns including Alice Climate Action, Don't Frack the Territory and Clean Energy NT.
