Friends of the Earth FNQ works with local communities and individual members to help preserve environmental biodiversity in the Far North region.
We want to see a kerbside recycling collection and/or drop off points, so that everybody has easy access to recycling. 800+ people, mostly from Mareeba, Kuranda, Speewah and Bibhoora signed the petition that was presented to the Mareeba Shire Council asking for a kerbside recycling collection.
We work with our friends at small local CSG-Free groups in Cairns, Mossman, Kuranda, Port Douglas and Cooktown. FOEFNQ wants to keep NQ free of Coal Seam Gas mining and exploration activities.
Fight for the Reef is a partnership between the Australian Marine Conservation Society and WWF-Australia. We’re working with people who love the Reef along the Queensland coast, across Australia and all over the world - who all want to see it protected. The Fight for the Reef campaign has helped to: Secure a ban on capital dredge spoil dumping in the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area, Protect untouched parts of the Reef coast from new port developments, Stop three mega coal port expansions, Ensure the World Heritage Committee keeps the Australian Government ‘on probation’ until Reef health improves.
