This campaign focused on the impact to barramundi by Rey Resources' proposed coal mine 4 km from Snake Creek and 5 km from the Camballin barrage, an area renowned for trophy-sized Barramundi.
In the 2000s, we successfully campaigned against a government proposal to send water by canal from the Fitzroy to drought-stricken Perth. In recent years, government and industry have shown renewed enthusiasm for broadscale agriculture in the Fitzroy Valley, despite the failure of past proposals.
With a federal election looming it’s not just candidates preparing: from Western Port to Ballarat, communities have launched open letters calling on their federal representatives to urgently replace polluting fossil fuels with clean energy, while supporting our regions to adapt and thrive.
This campaign calls on the Turnbull government to make a plan to phase out coal: "the Victorian government can’t shift to 100 percent clean energy all on its own. Australia has a national electricity market so we need a national plan to phase out coal."
Together, we’re running a home loan divestment campaign, moving many millions of dollars away from banks that loan money to dirty energy.
