Replace Hazelwood: Environment Victoria successfully campaigned for the federal government to commit to retiring 2000 megawatts of Australia’s most polluting coal-fired power as part of the carbon price package. Unfortunately, in September 2012, the federal government walked away this commitment, dashing our hopes to have a clear closing date for Hazelwood.
This campaign focuses on ensuring the Murray-Darling Basin Plan delivered on its promise to protect the Murray-Darling Basin - particularly against lobby groups.
We are still fighting to protect the 330,000ha of beautiful, ancient forests that the Government handed back to the logging industry when they repealed the Forests peace deal.
The mission of this campaign is to stop the Tasmanian marine environment from being destroyed by overfishing, climate change and poorly planned coastal development - before people even know it exists.
This campaign calls on the Government to regulate Salmon farming properly to make sure fish farms don't go into areas that are high conservation value and can't support the amount of pollution salmon farming leaves in the ocean.
