Quit Coal’s first major campaign was Stop HRL, a community campaign against plans for private company HRL, to build a 600MW coal-fired power station in the Latrobe Valley.
This campaign protested against continued government support for the Hazelwood Power Station in the Latrobe Valley, Gippsland (regarded as the most polluting power station in the developed world).
Over 650 households in the City of Greater Bendigo, and Mount Alexander and Macedon Ranges Shires – plus a growing number of businesses – have gone solar with MASH since we started installations in September 2014.
Leard State Forest and surrounding farmlands, near Narrabri, are threatened by proposals for three new or expanded open-cut coal mines.
