The Environment Centre NT, together with Borroloola residents Jack Green and Josie Davey (represented by the Environmental Defenders Office) served court proceedings challenging the NT Government’s decision to slash the environmental bond for Glencore’s controversial McArthur River Mine by almost $120 million. 
In May 2014 the Environment Centre NT and Beyond Nuclear Initiative launched a television and social media campaign to raise awareness of the risks that the Muckaty waste dump plan poses to the health of Northern Territory communities, workers, our waterways and the environment.
Our community petitioned Inner West Council and got an outcome! Inner West Council and three others have requested "that Origin Energy cease all plans to conduct fracking in the NT and elsewhere due to its impact ... and commit to further investment in environmentally and socially sustainable renewable energy projects".
This campaign targeted the Albanese government ahead of the 2023 budget. Focussing on the Middle Arm gas precinct, it called for no new fossil fuel subsidies in the May 2023 budget and a reverse of existing gas expansion/infrastructure subsidies.
This campaign called on supporters to send a letter to both the Federal Environment Minister Peter Garrett and the Chief Minister of the Northern Territory to protect Top End seas.
