The Planning Issues campaign by HEN advocates for greater response at our local government level to improve effective protection of our natural resources, and more sustainable communities.

HEN is campaiging for the development of stronger incentives for household waste management such as food and vegetation disposal by composting or worm farms; re-use of materials such as glass containers; and refusing plastic packaging such as water bottles and single-use supermarket plastic bags and containers.

HEN has campaigned vigorously on the issue of CSG since 2012 when it started to appear too close to home! We also joined the alliance of 50 community groups, including Lock-The-Gate, which launched Protect Sydney’s Water (PSW).

HEN is campaigning against increased urbanisation which may put further pressure on the water quality of the Hawkesbury-Nepean river system which is already under stress; further impacts may push it past a threshold without significant additional mitigating measures.
