Knitting Nannas Armidale Group: KNAG NENW & Friends. We knit to bring attention to invasive & destructive mining. To save our land & water for the kiddies. Welcome to Knitting Nannas Against Gas New England North West Loop. We are an umbrella group knitting to cover and protect all communities in the important farming region of New England and North West N.S.W. We encourage and invite everyone to join us and create another ‘strand’ for KNAG NENW fleece. With many yarns and clicking of needles we hope to knit a blanket to cover and protect all communities and lands in this vast region.
Knitting Nannas Against Gas first began in the Northern Rivers area of New South Wales Australia. Established 2012 in response to community concerns about Coal Seam Gas exploration and has grown now to include open-cut coal and invasive mining practises that are impacting our land, water and kiddies future. Knitting loops are across Australia and form a tapestry of national and international membership, maintaining connections via our web site, facebook and twitter.
KNAG draws on a broad history of knitting used as a tool for non-violent political activism. We view our knitting skills as less important than the act of bearing witness while we knit. You don’t have to be a Nanna; you don’t have to knit to save our land and water for the kiddies! For further information, email: [email protected]
