YOUR FORESTS
Australia’s magnificent landscapes of old growth rainforest and woodland, precious river systems, wetlands and swamps, sustain thousands of plant and animal species. After 200 years of logging and clearing they are fragile and endangered. Yet what remains provides vital environmental services such as water catchments for our cities, towns and farms, fertile soil for our agriculture, and pure air for healthy living. These are all in danger from the impacts of more intensive logging and clearing.
What we do
TEC has been protecting our forests since we were established in 1972. The task continues today. We are opposing logging native habitat for fuel in power stations called ‘dead koala electricity’; and bulldozing for mines and agriculture.
Since 1972 TEC has been successful in protecting almost one million hectares of our forest heritage in the Blue Mountains, South East NSW, remnant city bushland and northern rainforests.
