About

The Squirrel Glider, Petaurus norfolcensis is a native, arboreal, nocturnal and omnivorous marsupial that dwells in wet & dry forests and woodlands, feeding on insects, sap, nectar and pollen. Squirrel Gliders are listed as vulnerable in NSW, with populations concentrated along the east coast and a hot-spot identified in the Central Coast. Habitat connectivity is essential to the survival and longevity of these gorgeous gliders. Rampant clearing of bushland to accommodate development across the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Central Coast Local Government Area’s is driving fragmentation of their bushland habitat, placing immense pressure on existing and future generations of Squirrel gliders. We need your help to preserve habitat and protect our gliders.

From April 2021, we’ll begin our work to secure a prosperous future for the Squirrel Glider and we need your help:
◦ Join us on spotlighting adventures in local remnant bush to glimpse a glider face-to-face
◦ Participate in campaign planning & info sessions
◦ Attend workshops & skill-shares on habitat and biodiversity mapping + more with ecologists & experts
◦ Support our upcoming fundraising appeal
