CAMPAIGN: SOLAR OUR SPORTS – MVCC 2021/22 Budget
Our local sports clubs and community groups can all play a part in climate action. We put forward a submission showing that installing solar on Council owned community buildings was not only well supported, but would have both financial benefits for the clubs as well as environmental benefits for everyone! The Avondale Heights Football club was the first to benefit with a whopping 32kW of rooftop solar panels installed in early 2023, saving them over $7000 on bills per year and over 800 tonnes of CO2 emissions over its lifetime. Community and Council coming together to act on climate is a real win-win.
