About

It’s a landscape stretching from wind swept dunes and a rugged coastline which was once frequented by the Tarkininer people and other Aboriginal groups, through to the mountain ranges shrouded in rainforest, cut through by wild rivers. It’s home to the last healthy Tasmanian devils and other endangered species like the giant freshwater lobsters. The Tarkine evokes an atavistic sense of Australia, how it has evolved over more the 40 millions years. But the area is under imminent threat, miners have plans for huge short-term open cut mines in the heart of the area. — Send Federal Environment Minister Tony Burke a message to let him know you don’t supporting mining the Tarkine.
