Queenslanders love the great outdoors and we’re known for our state pride…But there’s a few things you might not know about our beautiful state. Queensland is rich in living cultural heritage of First Nations people. e have twice as many species of native plants and animals as any other Australian state or territory. But it’s not all good news. Queensland currently boasts the lowest percentage of protected areas compared to other states and territories. There’s so much to lose! If we don’t act soon to protect beautiful Queensland, we stand to lose:
◦ The most valuable and vulnerable landscapes are being lost to inappropriate development.
◦ Over a thousand species of plants and animals already classified as rare or endangered in Queensland.
◦ Access to and enjoyment of nature is central to our Queensland way of life.
