Leard’s Forest repreive Great news!
Tonight we celebrate with Murray Dreschler (Muz) the deeply relieving news that the courts have ordered Whitehaven Coal to stop the Winter massacre of the Leard State Forest. Nearly 700 days ago Muz established the one-man camp in the Leard with the goal to peacefully protect the forest by stopping the expansion of Idemitsu Boggabri open cut coal mine and from Whitehaven beginning the third mine in the Leard at Maules Creek. An ambitious intention that has come one step closer to realisation today with the help of so many who stood up alongside Muz to face the job at hand. Muz wants to make it known that Idemitsu must also be stopped from destroying the forest further, so there is still much work to be done. Right now though he just said; “Tonight we celebrate, tomorrow we lock-on!” Iris said “So let it be known; We protectors and earth warriors are not stopping until Whitehaven and Idemitsu have cleaned up the mess they have made in the Leard and cleared out of Gamilaraay Country for good.”
