Farmers are on the frontline of climate change. This means more droughts, more wild and unpredictable weather, making it harder to live on the land. The good news is that they’re not alone. Beside almost every farmer is a climate-smart, ever-loyal farm dog. This Dog Day, 26 August, we’re paying tribute to the unsung heroes of Australia’s farm yards: our farm dogs.
We’re calling on farmers – and their supporters – to share pics of their four-legged farmhands with the hashtag #paws4climate over the next month. Bonus points if you tell us how your dog is helping you in the fight for climate action: with a lick on the hand when you need it, as a low-cost, low-input farm helper, or …? We’ll be shortlisting some of the best, and you’ll get a chance to vote for your favourite farm dog on our website. The top 12 are going to be featured in our 2021 calendar!
