On August 9, 2005, John Howard’s Government took control of the Senate. GetUp chose this critical moment to launch, with a campaign aimed at letting the Coalition Senators know that while the other parties can’t hold them to account anymore, we will.
The campaign included a television advertisement which you can view at right, and an email that people could send to the Coalition Senators in their state or territory expressing their concerns about the Government’s unchecked power.
We had a tremendous response to the campaign, with over 50,000 emails by constituents to their elected representatives through the site.
