The people of the Blue Mountains and Hawkesbury want urgent, genuine climate action. Resilient Blue Mountains is proud to be a part of the Macquarie Alliance for Climate. Macquarie Alliance is a collaboration between Blue Mountains and Hawkesbury residents and groups who have joined together to demonstrate that the people in our communities want urgent, genuine action on climate change. If you are a resident of the Macquarie Electorate that wants meaningful climate action, then add your voice by signing the open letter to federal candidates and then please share with others!

The Macquarie Alliance platform
We are Hawkesbury and Blue Mountains people who care about the future of our communities, our homes, and the natural world. We are working together for the protection and improvement of these places, through ensuring global temperatures are kept below 1.5 degrees warming. Our vision is for thriving communities within healthy ecosystems, where no one is left behind. To achieve this we are calling on all Federal candidates to advocate for urgent action on climate change through supporting:

Outcome Evidence: The Macquarie Alliance campaigned in the 2022 federal election for: A much stronger 2030 emissions reduction target for Australia, Fast tracking clean energy and ending fossil fuel subsidies, Support for workers and communities transitioning from fossil fuels, Integrity in politics. A Labor government was voted in with a stronger 2030 emissions reduction target than the previous government. In the seat of Macquarie, incumbant Labor MP Susan Templeman was re-elected. Other campaigns goals, such as stopping fossil fuel subsidies have not been achieved (Australia Institute calculate that Australian federal and State governments provided a total of $11.1 billion worth of spending and tax breaks to assist fossil fuel industries in 2022-23). Since the 2022 federal election, Macquarie Alliance states "our focus has turned to maintaining communication as an alliance with Susan Templeman our re-elected Member of Parliament, and building communication across the alliance for collaboration."
