About

A residents and friends’ committee has been set up to address Council’s plans for MacIntosh Island Park and Narrowneck that contains the last remnant littoral coastal rainforest at Surfers Paradise. The committee is concerned about encroachment of business interests in our public open spaces and Council’s plans for MacIntosh Island Park and parks in general. The Friends of MacIntosh Island Park and Narrowneck has been invited to join Gecko as a member group. Gecko has had a policy of protection for public open space since 1989. Gecko volunteer, Tom Fletcher has done a wildlife survey for the park to help “the friends” gain an understanding of the fauna and flora of the area
