Welcome to the ‘Lock the Mid North Coast’ campaign website
We are a large group of local residents from the Nambucca Shire, Bellingen Shire, Kempsey Shire, Coffs Harbour City, Clarence Valley and other local government areas of NSW who want to stop destructive mining projects on the Mid North Coast.
The Lock the Mid North Coast campaign was launched in July 2012 as a way of addressing the specific needs of the geographic area of the Mid North Coast, NSW, as the current and proposed mining activities in this region relate to metallic minerals, gold and antimony, not coal and coal seam gas as addressed by Lock the Gate Alliance.
Local Groups
Since 2010, a number of local groups on the Mid North Coast have formed to address the specific mining activities in their communities: Dorrigo Environment Watch (2010), Lock the Nambucca Valley (July 2012), Coffs Catchment Coalition (Oct 2012), Save our Macleay River (January 2013) and Blicks River Guardians (2013)
Lock the Mid North Coast is a ongoing regional media campaign for these local groups in the region, supporting them by sharing resources, providing strategic advice and supporting their activities, including public relations activities.
