Victoria’s environmental watchdog is undergoing a $165 million reform process to turn it into a 21st century regulator. Despite these much needed reforms, the Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) is still failing to tackle climate change. The EPA monitors pollution to our air, land and water, but they are allowing climate polluters to dump unlimited amounts of greenhouse gases into our atmosphere. Victoria’s new Climate Change Act came into force this week and it confirms that the EPA has the power to regulate climate pollution. And with over 45 years’ experience regulating other types of pollution, they are perfectly placed to prevent harm to Victoria’s climate.
