About

There are a number of international and national environmental organisations with a major interest in doing something about our accelerating “progress” towards the major environmental disaster that greenhouse induced climate change represents. The NQCC takes on this issue at the local level and does its best to ensure that the slogan “reduce, reuse, recycle” is something more than a platitude or “greenwash” to be ignored. The immediate local effects of greenhouse climate change will be particularly felt in the low lying areas of Townsville and the predicted increase in the intensity of floods and cyclones and drought periods are a major threat. We do our best to raise awareness that continual economic and population growth in this region, or indeed the world, is neither desirable nor possible.
