TEC’s climate change and greenhouse work focuses on energy. In Australia 90% of all electricity is generated from coal and 50% of our total greenhouse pollution comes from electricity generation. This means that how we produce and use electricity is central to the greenhouse effect and climate change. To reduce greenhouse pollution we must switch from coal to renewable energy technologies like solar and wind, waste less energy and use electricity far more efficiently.
TEC’s energy campaign areas include:
Biomass co-firing
Sydney CBD augmentation
Carbon sinks and emissions trading
Household energy information
