Advancing Corporate Social Responsibility
Green Capital is Australia’s leading corporate sustainability program. We aim to improve the sustainability of the business sector through constructive debate, dialogue and action. Our Charter outlines the range of issues we cover and the ways in which we work in more detail. Our Program Overview gives a more detailed description of our activities. The Principles for CSR outline our own ideas about what CSR is. They where developed with other NGOs. Green Capital is an initiative of the Total Environment Centre (TEC).
What we do
Our flagship debate series is aimed at raising awareness of sustainability issues, then identifying barriers and solutions. These debates bring together business, community and government sectors. The debates are accompanied by issue specific position papers and publications, giving attendees a better understanding of the issues, and how they affect their organisation. When it’s time to move beyond debate, we hold policy workshops to delve deeper into a particular sustainability issue. These are aimed at developing practical outcomes for change. Finally, we’re developing a sustainability training course for those businesses who recognise they need to build capacity across their organisation, and move to a sustainability culture.
Get Involved
Green Capital is designed to provide the opportunity for business to engage with a range stakeholders on corporate sustainability issues. Part of what makes the program unique is the breadth of people and organisations who participate. We encourage people from business, NGOs and government to come along. You don’t have to have sustainability in your job title and you don’t have to be an expert.
