About

Promoting the long-term cultural change we need to create a fair and sustainable world is at the core of the AYCC’s mission. We do this through school and university engagement, events like Power Shift, and campaigns like Youth Decide. But we also believe that our education system has a crucial role to play in ensuring that our generation is equipped with the skills we need to transition Australia to a just and sustainable society. Together with stakeholders from the education sector and the community, the AYCC is working to ensure that sustainability is embedded in all aspects of our education system.

Current projects include:
– Working to ensure sustainability is embedded in the National Curriculum and state-based curricula
– Advocating on behalf of sustainability education programs such as the Australian Sustainable Schools Initiative (AuSSI)
– Establishing the Education for Sustainability Alliance, an advocacy focused alliance of key stakeholders including Unions, NGOs, and research organisations.

The AYCC is currently looking for 4-5 volunteers to join the Education for Sustainability Team. For more information and to apply, download the position description. If you have any questions regarding our Education advocacy program, just email [email protected]
