Existing BuildingsThe Existing Buildings Project is a landmark collaboration between TEC & the commercial property sector aimed at combating climate change by improving investment grade office buildings. Central to the Existing Buildings Project are the sector leading commitments made by GPT Group, Macquarie Office Trust, Australian Prime Property Fund, the Local Government Superannuation Scheme, Becton Property Group and Brookfield Multiplex to make significant cuts in greenhouse gas emissions by 2012. Together these commitments relate to over 10% of Australia’s investment grade office buildings. If all office building owners matched these sector leading commitments it would be the emissions equivalent of permanently retiring Australia’s heavy trucking fleet.

In 2009 the Program received the Green Globe Climate Change Leadership Award.
